Birth
Every birth is individual and unique. We support you in the decision-making process.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both natural birth and caesarean section, which we would like to explain to you in more detail. Natural birth is possible for most pregnant women.
Vaginal birth
Advantages:
- A natural birth is often faster with a shorter recovery time after the birth.
- The hormones released during a natural birth can help with bonding and milk production.
Disadvantages:
There is a higher risk of perineal injury during childbirth, but in the vast majority of cases this heals without complications.
A natural birth can be very painful, depending on the progress of the birth, various pain-relieving therapies are available.
It is not always possible to have a natural birth if complications arise.
In a natural birth, the birth process takes place without medical interventions and interventions, but in a natural way, with the support of experienced obstetricians and midwives.
It is almost impossible to predict when the birth will begin. A term birth is defined as between the 37th and 42nd week of pregnancy.
In a natural birth, the woman's body relies on its own powers and instincts to bring the baby into the world in a gentle way. The birth process is regulated by the woman's body and the natural contractions to guide the baby safely through the birth canal. This type of birth allows the mother to actively participate in the birth process and experience the birth in a self-determined way.
Medication may be required during the birth due to weak contractions or severe pain. Depending on the course of the birth, we will also support you in this phase and provide you with advice.
If you would like to find out more about natural births or have any questions, we will be happy to help you. We support and accompany you sensitively and respectfully on your way to a natural and self-determined birth. Your needs and wishes take center stage as we share the wonderful experience of birth together.
Operative vaginal birth
A surgical vaginal birth is a procedure that is sometimes necessary to ensure a safe and successful delivery. During such a birth, targeted measures and instruments such as a suction cup or forceps are used to help guide the baby through the birth canal.
A surgical vaginal birth may be necessary in various situations, for example in the event of delays in the birth process, difficulties with the child or medical complications that make a rapid delivery necessary. We will carefully consider whether an operative vaginal birth is the best option in your case to ensure the health of mother and child.
Caesarean section
Advantages:
- A caesarean section may be the best option in the event of complications such as an incorrect position of the baby in the womb or previous caesarean sections.
- The time of the birth process and thus the stress of labor and pain are eliminated.
- The mother can choose a planned intervention if, for example, she does not want a natural birth or is afraid of it.
Disadvantages:
- A caesarean section is a surgical procedure and therefore carries a higher risk of complications such as infection, pain and blood loss.
- A caesarean section can increase the risk of a subsequent pregnancy.
- The healing process is prolonged and usually involves more pain and discomfort than a natural birth.
This may be recommended due to risk factors such as a high number of caesarean sections in the mother's medical history, previous difficult labor, birth defects, multiple pregnancies or certain medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure. The operation usually takes place a few days to weeks before the due date to ensure the best possible timing for mother and child.
In contrast, a secondary caesarean section refers to an unplanned caesarean section performed during childbirth when the health of the mother or baby is at risk. This may be necessary if there are problems such as an abnormal fetal heart rate, bleeding, fetal malpositions or inadequate labor progress. Doctors will act quickly in this case to protect the health of mother and child by delivering the baby quickly and safely through an incision in the abdominal cavity and uterus.
In both cases, the operation is performed under anesthesia and involves opening the abdominal wall and uterus to remove the baby.
Emergency caesarean section
An emergency caesarean section is an urgent surgical procedure that is performed if the health of the mother or child is at risk during the birth. This may be necessary, for example, in the event of serious complications such as an abnormal fetal heart rate or sudden fetal malnutrition. Fortunately, an emergency caesarean section is very rarely necessary.
In this case, the decision to perform an emergency caesarean section is made within minutes in order to protect the life of the mother and child. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. The abdominal wall is opened through a limited incision and the baby is removed through the uterus, which is also opened.
An emergency caesarean section can save a child from life-threatening situations and give the medical team enough time to provide fast and effective care in the best interest of both patients. Even if it is necessary to perform an emergency caesarean section, mothers should know that they are in the best hands even in this situation and that the decision to undergo surgery is made in the best interest of their health and the health of their child.
Although an emergency caesarean section is an unforeseen situation, we are prepared for such situations and have the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure that both the mother and the baby receive fast and effective care.
Ultimately, it is important to emphasize that every birth is individual and unique. There is no one perfect way. We work closely with you to consider your individual wishes and needs and offer you support and assistance every step of the way.
