Hysteroscopies are minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in which a thin instrument, the hysteroscope, is inserted into the uterus to examine the inside of the uterus.
Hysteroscopies are used for a variety of conditions, such as benign changes in the lining of the uterus (polyps), fibroids or unexplained bleeding.
Compared to scraping, shaving is an innovative technology that is used during hysteroscopy. In contrast to traditional methods, where the affected tissue is removed manually, the shaver offers a gentle tool that removes diseased tissue quickly and effectively. The technology uses a combination of rotating movements for ablation and direct suction for histologic tissue examination to remove the diseased tissue while protecting the surrounding tissue.
By using the shaver, hysteroscopies can be performed more effectively and gently. The technology offers precise tissue removal and reduces the risk of complications such as bleeding or injury to the surrounding tissue compared to traditional methods.
Denis Faoro has many years of experience with this innovative surgical method.
