Breast operations

We specialize in comprehensive breast surgery and place particular emphasis on aesthetic results.

Breast operations are surgical procedures performed for benign or malignant diseases of the breast. They can serve both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes and include procedures such as breast biopsies, tumorectomies (tumor removals) or mastectomies (breast removals).

At our practice, we assist women with the diagnosis and treatment of breast conditions. We offer comprehensive advice, support and individualized patient care to ensure that your needs and wishes are met.

For benign breast changes, minimally invasive procedures such as a breast biopsy may be sufficient to make a conclusive diagnosis and initiate therapeutic measures if necessary. We use ultrasound to analyze the affected area of tissue in order to take a small tissue sample, which is then examined in the laboratory. If surgery is necessary to remove a change, we perform procedures such as excision to remove the diseased area and preserve the surrounding structure.

Surgery for breast cancer

Surgical procedures such as tumorectomy or mastectomy are part of the multimodal treatment concept for malignant breast diseases. The extent of the operation usually depends on the extent of the disease. A good two thirds of breast cancers can be treated with breast-conserving surgery. In addition to oncological safety with the complete removal of the breast cancer on site, we attach great importance to aesthetics and offer our patients oncoplastic techniques as part of breast-conserving surgery in order to achieve the best cosmetic result. If breast removal is necessary, we offer all patients the option of breast reconstruction in collaboration with the plastic surgeons at the cooperating breast centers. If medically possible, this is performed during the same operation.

As part of breast cancer surgery, the sentinel lymph node(s) is usually also removed. This is a minimally invasive method to assess the spread of the disease to the axillary lymph nodes.
